COP29 deal 'marks new era for climate cooperation and finance': EU chief

 BRUSSELS, Belgium, Nov 24, 2024 (BSS/AFP) - EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen praised the COP29 agreement reached in Baku on Sunday, calling it "a new era for climate cooperation and finance."



She emphasized that the $300 billion deal, finalized after extensive negotiations in Azerbaijan's capital, "will stimulate investments in clean transitions, reduce emissions, and enhance resilience to climate change."

Von der Leyen reaffirmed the EU's commitment to leading these efforts, stating, "We will continue to focus our support on the most vulnerable."
